Maintenance man charged with murder following stabbing incident in Montego Bay

Forty-one-year-old Carlton Greaves, a maintenance worker of Daniel Town in Trelawny, has been charged with murder following an incident along Thompson Street, Montego Bay in St James, on Friday, May 2.

Dead is 41-year-old Damion Campbell, a welder of Maroon Town in St James.

Reports from the Montego Bay Police are that at about 7:00 pm, Greaves and Campbell were engaged in a heated argument, which became physical. During the exchange, Greaves pulled a knife and used it to stab Campbell in the chest before fleeing the scene.

Campbell was assisted to the hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition.

On Monday, May 5, a relative of Campbell reported the incident to the police, who launched an investigation.

On Friday, May 16, Campbell succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Greaves was arrested during an operation in the Montego Bay Transport Centre on Friday, July 11. He was subsequently charged on Wednesday, July 16, following a confession during an interview in the presence of a Justice of the Peace.

His court date is being finalised.
