British Airways has announced plans to deepen its connectivity with the Jamaican capital city, Kingston, by adding more flights.
Beginning next summer, BA will be flying a total of four flights per week between London Gatwick and Kingston’s Norman Manley International Airport. Flights between London and Kingston are about $1,018 on British Airways right now, according to Google Flights data.
With the extra flights, British Airways says it’s going to be adding more than 300 seats every week between London and Jamaica. It’s part of a bigger summer schedule for the carrier next year, and a solid sign for Jamaica’s tourism hopes.
British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer, Neil Chernoff, commented, “We’re delighted to expand our long-haul network from London Heathrow and Gatwick next summer, adding more services to some of our most-loved destinations.”
Kingston has been quietly developing into a full-fledged tourism destination, with a new crop of travellers seeking out Jamaica’s capital for its unique blend of modern cool and vibrant culture—along with some exciting new hotels, too.
British Airways headed for Dutch Caribbean
The British carrier is adding its first-ever service to the Dutch Caribbean island of Aruba next spring. Beginning in March 2023, British Airways will be operating twice-weekly flights out of London Gatwick Airport.
The new service complements existing UK service to Aruba on TUI.
While the TUI service is only seasonal, British Airways will be flying to Aruba year-round, with two weekly flights on Thursdays and Sundays.
The service is direct but not nonstop, with a brief stopover at Antigua’s VC Bird International Airport. British Airways will be operating the service on Boeing 777-200ER aircraft with 32 Club seats, 52 World Traveller Plus seats and 252 economy seats.
The flight also opens up local connections to nearby Dutch Caribbean destinations like Bonaire and Curacao for British travellers.
