Some Calabar High students who turned up for the first day of school on Monday were asked to return home for breaching the institution’s regulations concerning their attire.

According to media reports, approximately 34 students from the all-boys institution were observed outside the school gates on Red Hills Road during class sessions. It is reported that they were locked out of the school.

But according to Principal Sian-Mahay Wilson, the students were sent home, and they refused to leave the gate.

“Truth is, I didn’t lock them out. No child was locked out. They were sent home. They refused to go. All other children came to school,” Wilson briefly stated.

On Monday, following reports, a probe was launched into the barring of students as Dana Morris-Dixon, Minister of Education, Skills, Youth and Information, reiterated that no child should be locked out of school because of any infraction.

There were mixed reactions from the public on Monday following posts made on social media.
