Gunmen kill teen, injure four others in Portmore shooting

Police in the St Catherine South Division are searching for gunmen involved in a deadly attack that left one man dead and four others injured in the Portsmouth community of Portmore on Thursday night.

The deceased has been identified as 19-year-old Rashad Smith, a resident of Fourth Avenue, Portsmouth.

According to the police, the four other victims—aged 21 to 34—were taken to hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.

Reports indicate that around 9:15 pm, the men were standing along Arundel Road when they were ambushed by unknown assailants. The gunmen opened fire, hitting all five men before fleeing the scene.

The victims were rushed to hospital, where Smith later succumbed to his injuries.

No motive has been established in the incident.

The Portmore Criminal Investigation Branch is probing the matter.
