In recognition of International Coastal Clean Up Day, team members from Pan Jamaica Property Company volunteered with the CB Facey Foundation to participate in the NEPA Clean Up site at Shipwreck Beach in the Palisadoes Port Royal Protected Area on September 20.
Led by Gayon Douglas, Executive Director at the CB Facey Foundation, and Sam Cooper, Managing Director at Pan Jamaica Property Company, the team joined volunteers to remove solid waste of all shapes and sizes from the shoreline.

While the effort was a meaningful contribution to preserving the area’s natural beauty, it also served as a sobering reminder of the wider issue of improper waste management and its long-term impact on Jamaica’s marine ecosystems.
The site holds particular significance as a key turtle nesting ground, where delicate nesting behaviours are observed each year. Protecting such habitats is critical to safeguarding biodiversity and ensuring the survival of endangered species.

Initiatives like this one highlight the importance of ongoing conservation efforts, which require sustained community participation, public education, and corporate support to create lasting change.
“Environmental protection is not just an area of focus for the foundation; it is a responsibility we all share,” said Douglas. “Participating in International Coastal Clean Up Day is one of the many ways we act on our mission to support a sustainable future for Jamaica.”

With environmental stewardship as a central pillar of its mandate, the CB Facey Foundation remains committed to supporting initiatives that help reduce the impact of solid waste and preserve biodiversity in Jamaica.
