The People’s National Party (PNP) today announced the official close of nominations for the posts of president and vice president, which concluded at midday.
For the post of president, the party received one nomination: Mark Jefferson Golding, MP for South St Andrew. He will therefore continue to serve unopposed as President of the People’s National Party.
For the posts of vice president, four nominations were received:
- Mikael Phillips, MP for Northwest Manchester
- Ian Hayles, MP for Western Westmoreland
- Natalie Neita Garvey, MP for North Central St Catherine
- Mayor Norman Scott, Chairman of the St Catherine Municipal Corporation
With sufficient nominations received for the available positions, there will be no requirement to hold elections for these posts.
The party also placed on record its appreciation to Comrade Senator Donna Scott Mottley, who opted not to seek re-election as vice president. Scott Mottley has served with distinction in the role over the last several years and played a pivotal part during the election campaign. The PNP acknowledges and thanks her for her outstanding service and commitment to the movement.
Looking ahead, the party will convene its two-day National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on October 4–5, to be followed by the annual regional conferences and the election of regional officers. The calendar of activities will conclude with a one-day private session of the Annual Conference on November 30, 2025.
The PNP also said it remains focused on advancing its agenda of justice, inclusion, and progress for the Jamaican people.
