Jamaica’s financial institutions will seek to increase their capacity to tackle financial crime at the 14th Annual Anti-Money Laundering/Counter Financing of Terrorism Hybrid Conference, which begins today, October 14, 2025, and ends tomorrow.

The conference, which is co-organised by the Jamaica Bankers’ Association (JBA) in partnership with the Jamaica Institute of Financial Services (JIFS) is being held under the “Securing Our Paradise: Collaborative AML Strategies for Jamaica and the Wider Caribbean”. Digicel Business and Symptai are co-sponsors, while Kalilah Reynolds, financial journalist and entrepreneur, serves as host.

For today, the keynote presentation from Dawne Spicer, executive director of the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force (CFATF), will be the highlight. Her delivery should set the stage for critical discussions on regional compliance and cross-border cooperation.

Other activities today will include discussions with leading regulators on preparing for the next round of Mutual Evaluations. Bahamian financial expert Deno V. Cartwright, who will share insights on safeguarding financial systems and will close.

Tomorrow, top regulators, bankers, and compliance experts will listen to Danielle Archer, principal director of National Integrity Action, who will speak on “Corruption & Governance: Safeguarding Institutions, Strengthening Accountability”. Rory Barrett from Symptai will close the day’s activities with his presentation on “Fraud, AML, and Cybersecurity in a Hyper-Connected World”.

Over the two days, participants will hear from other distinguished speakers, such as Carolyn Bell Wisdom, partner at PwC, who will engage in a forward-looking conversation on safeguarding the region’s financial ecosystem. Among the participants are officers of financial institutions who are responsible for AML/CFT matters; attorneys at law; real estate and property professionals; security dealers, internal and external auditors from local and regional financial sectors.
