The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has launched an enquiry into a police-involved shooting that injured a man said to be of unsound mind at a market in Mandeville, Manchester, on Saturday.

It’s reported that around 10:45 am, police officers were on Manchester Road near the market when the man allegedly attacked the team and attempted to disarm a member.

The police reportedly fired at the individual, who was subsequently taken to the Mandeville Regional Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

INDECOM said it has begun a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Further details about the man’s condition have not been revealed.
