The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) says charges have been formally laid against a Boscobel teenager in connection with the shooting death of 59-year-old businessman Garfield Singh earlier this month.

In a statement on February 21, the police advised that the 17-year-old was slapped with conspiracy to rob and possession of criminal property.

The yet-to-be-identified teenager was subsequently charged last Thursday (February 19) after he gave a caution statement outlining his involvement in committing the crime.

His co-accused, Tyrone Dacosta, along with constables Qwaine Blake and Daz Hayne, were also
charged.

Reports from the Port Maria Police indicate that at approximately 3:30 am on February 9, Boscobel residents heard banging followed by gunshots at Singh’s residence. Checks were made, and the police were
summoned after the businessman was found with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to
the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Following investigations into the murder, a case file was prepared and submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for a ruling.

The JCF added that a court date is being finalised.
