The Jamaica Meteorological Service says hazy conditions will remain a mainstay over skies along southern parishes as a trough also brings unstable weather today (August 3).
Citing a plume of Saharan dust over the central Caribbean, the Met Service, in its 5:00 am forecast, is anticipating isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms mainly across western parishes.
Additionally, windy and hazy conditions are in store for Jamaica’s south coast well into the Independence weekend.
Satellite imagery tracking the Saharan Air Layer (SAL) shows a massive dust cloud stretching from the far east Atlantic Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico.
The dust plume, which has thinned significantly since yesterday, still covers much of the eastern Caribbean as well as the Greater Antilles and the Bahamas.
The maximum temperature anticipated for major Jamaican cities, Kingston and Montego Bay, is 33 degrees Celcius respectively.
