With less than three months to go to the midterm elections, it is looking bleak for the Republicans, and the party is facing the possibility of losing both the Senate and the House of Representatives.

If that were to happen, it would put President Trump in a perilous position, with his political enemies seeking to impeach him and render him an aberration never to happen again. 

There is a lot at stake.

The Republicans were on a high when Trump won his second term and broke the back of the Democrats. The entire country got behind his efforts to curb immigration, his promise to reduce inflation and create more jobs, snapping woke culture over his knee.

Trump was the Republican Party’s star attraction, and they have to be thankful to the New Yorker for resuscitating their fortunes after the Obama/Biden era.

On the campaign trail, Trump said that he would not drag America into wars and that his focus would be the economy and putting the country first. People rallied around that.

Less than two years into his second term, most of that has gone out the window, and Americans are disgruntled. Inflation is elevated, interest rates are unable to come down, the Iran war is dragging on with no clear end in sight, and gas prices at the pump are high.

The Republican Party pushed all its chips on Trump, and some are having buyer’s remorse.

But not all is lost. If he were to end the war in Iran by the end of August and get on the campaign trail with inflation easing and gas prices receding, he may pull off a rescue mission.

He has left some scars on the Republican Party that will take a long time to heal. Many women in the party rallied around him and pledged their loyalty to him only for him to discard them. Kristi Norm, Pam Bondi, Tulsi Gabbard, Lori Chavez-DeRemer, Marjorie Taylor-Greene, Jeanine Pirro. The wrath of a woman scorned can be a whirlwind 

 There are loyalists who are old and dying out; take Lindsay Graham and Mitch McConnell for example.  Majority Leader of the Senate John Thune is not enamoured of the President, and they have been knocking heads.

The Democrats are gaining ground, and President Trump may well urge Americans that the likes of AOC, Bernie Sanders, El-Sayeed and Francesca Hong are socialists and communists, posing a threat to the Republic. Will Americans turn to Democratic moderates like Josh Shapiro, Gavin Newsom, Pete Buttigieg? The Biden/Harris era is over, vanquished by Trump. The Democrats have to look to new leadership capable of defeating Trump and stopping the Republicans in their tracks.

According to the latest RealClearPolling, 48.3 per cent will vote Democrat with 41 per cent going with the Republicans. In November, all 435 US House seats, 35 Senate seats and 39 governor races will be decided. This will be a vote on how Trump has performed halfway into his second term. It will also give an indication as to whether Marco Rubio or J.D. Vance can succeed Trump and win the Presidency. 

In the latest Ipsos/Reuters poll, Trump has an approval rating of just 35 per cent. He is still the driving force behind the MAGA movement and is the Republican Party’s strongest asset.

Speaking in an interview with PunchBowl News, President Trump said: “ If I don’t run, will those people go and vote, and that’s the one thing I can’t tell. A lot of them are very angry at Republicans, to be honest with you…they are not angry with me, but they are angry with Republicans.”

MAGA INC has a war chest with $400 million in cash, and President Trump has said he will be using funding from it to support Republicans come the mid-terms in November.
