As part of its continued efforts to highlight the tremendous contribution of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) to the development of the country, the LASCO Chin Foundation and JCF will acknowledge 155 top performing service men and women in a special recognition ceremony on October 28.
The LASCO/Jamaica Constabulary Force: Saluting Our Heroes and Chairman’s Award will this year recognise the 155th anniversary of the JCF.
This year, six outstanding finalists, spanning all geographical regions and operations that fall under the JCF umbrella, will vie for the coveted Chairman’s trophy.

In addition to the Chairman’s Award, the winner will receive a cash award of $100,000, along with a range of LASCO gift prizes.
The first runner-up will receive a cash award of $75,000 and the second runner-up will receive a cash award of $50,000 and gift tokens courtesy of LASCO.
All prize monies will be gifted on the newly launched LASCO Gold Visa Prepaid Card.
The LASCO Chin Foundation says it is proud to be associated with the outstanding work of the Jamaica Constabulary Force for more than 22 years.

The Foundation continues to make a significant impact on raising the morale of members of the constabulary and the communities they serve through programmes like the annual LASCO/JCF Police Officer of the Year Awards.
The annual event highlights the work ethic, public and team member working relationships, involvement in communities and other social initiatives of the force.
According to Lascelles Chin, founder and executive chairman of LASCO Affiliated Companies, LASCO is proud to be a supporter of the men and women of the JCF.

“LASCO has never been shy in our support of these brave men and women. If it’s a health crisis we call on the JCF, if it’s a natural disaster: hurricane, earthquake or flooding, we call on the JCF. For every large gathering for sports, political meetings, church conventions, arrival of foreign dignitaries, just name it, and the JCF is present, reassuring and protecting us. Their contribution has been tremendous, and we are proud of our partnership.”
The annual Police Officer of the Year Awards is set to return next year.
Speaking to the impact of community policing as a central strategy in community safety and fighting crime in Jamaica, Charmine Shand, acting assistant commissioner of police and head of the JCF’s Community Safety and Security Branch, noted that the JCF was thankful that LASCO continues to recognise members of the JCF.

“As perhaps the most tactile, public facing organisation in the country, the constabulary remains intent on building and sustaining highly resilient communities. It is the unswerving community policing strategies innovated and implemented by our members that drive this strategy and we are grateful that LASCO recognises the value that these men and women bring to their job every day.”
The LASCO Chin Foundation is keenly focused on proactive, social impact at various levels of education, national security, health and wellness, sports and environmental development within our communities.
