A story of love and its challenges will take the stage this Friday (December 2) as Youth Reaching Youth presents its fund-raising play ‘Me and You: Just Two’.
Written by Dr Craig McNally, the play depicts a love story about life’s hardships and God’s redemptive solution. The performance will get under way at 7:00 pm at Swallowfield Chapel in St Andrew.
‘Me and You: Just Two’ has been described as a heart-warming love story about the real-life ups and downs of being married. In this quasi-romantic tale, we meet Stephen, who is the son of fire-brand Pentecostal pastors. His parents plan for him to take over the pastorship one day, but not with Kerry, his love interest, by his side. She may be Christian, but in their eyes the blood of Jesus ‘missed some spots’.
SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT TAKE ON THE EDUCATIONAL JOURNEY
Stephen and Kerry do get married, but become lashed with the loss of a child, infidelity and a diagnosis only a miracle can fix. Just when the audience thinks they know this couple’s story, there is a big surprise!
Swallowfield Chapel’s Youth Reaching Youth programme offers a slightly different take on the educational journey, incorporating the spiritual and the creative arts alongside regular studies. The programme, that started in 2001, encourages the holistic development of students and positions them as youth leaders.
The non-profit Swallowfield Outreach Ministry offers a two-year leadership training programme for young people aged 16-23 years, geared towards empowering Christian youth in education, life coping skills, creative arts, character building, goal-setting initiatives and evangelism strategies with the sole aim of delivering the gospel of Jesus Christ to youth throughout Jamaica and the region.
‘Me & You: Just Two’ is part of the fundraising efforts of the organisation. Tickets cost $1,500 and are available at Swallowfield Chapel. For more information call 876-920-6317.
