Former United States President Donald Trump has said that those running to become America’s Commander in Chief should be subject to a competency test.
This supports Republican candidate for the Presidency Nikki Haley’s call for all aspirants over the age of 75 to undergo a competency test.
Current President Joe Biden, who is 80, has had a number of forgetful lapses and has been seen falling down while attempting to walk the stairs to Air Force One.
Both his physical and mental abilities have been causes for concern and some question whether a person in their 80s is capable of being a fully functioning President who is up for the job.

Donald Trump has taken pride in his masculinity and, at 76, has announced his candidacy to be the Republican nominee for President. He would be 82 on completion of his second term as President if he should win.
Speaking on the matter, Trump said: “In my mind, anybody running for the office of President of the United States should agree to take a full and complete mental competency test simultaneously or before the announcement that he or she is running and likewise but to a somewhat lesser extent agree to a test which would prove that you are physically capable of doing the job as President.
“To be an outstanding President requires great mental acuity and physical stamina and strength. If you don’t have those qualities or traits, it is likely you will not succeed and disappoint the entire world let alone our country. Take a competency test. Let’s see whether these people running for office are competent. I took the test two years ago and aced it. I’d love to take it again and I think I’d even do better.
“Somebody running for President with 350 million people relying on you-they are relying on your brain, your competence- I think taking a competency test would be a good thing.”
