The “shocking” teasers of Prince Harry’s and Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey has been released by CBS.
The teasers, released on Sunday (February 28), don’t show much, but they do leave viewers suspicious, wondering if Markle was ‘silenced’ by the British Royal Family or if she kept ‘silent’ for her own good.
Though Markle didn’t speak in the interview clips, Winfrey, responding to her, commented: “You’ve said some pretty shocking things here.”
Harry, on the other hand, is heard referring to his late mother, Princess Diana, saying: “My biggest concern was history repeating itself.”
There are sinister undertones to the comment as, after all, conspiracy theorists have long suggested that Princess Di’s fate was sealed when she talked too much about her own difficulties with the Royal Family.
“I’m really relieved and happy to be sitting here, talking to you with my wife by my side because I can’t begin to imagine what it must have been for her going through this process by herself all these years ago,” Prince Harry continued.
While feelings were mixed about Harry’s and Meghan’s nuptials, things took a turn for the worse when they decided to remove themselves from Buckingham Palace and move to the United States (US).
The ongoing backlash against the couple, and their need to tell their side, is believed to be the reason behind them agreeing to the Oprah interview that has left Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, incensed.
In fact, just days after the interview was announced, The Queen revealed that the couple would be stripped of all Royal titles, arguing that they could not continue in any royal capacity while seeking to commercialise themselves.
MARCH 7 AIRING
The full interview will air March 7 at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
According to CBS: “Winfrey will speak with Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, in a wide-ranging interview, covering everything from stepping into life as a Royal, marriage, motherhood, philanthropic work to how she is handling life under intense public pressure”.
This sounds like a ‘no-stone-left-unturned’ situation.
“Later, the two are joined by Prince Harry as they speak about their move to the US and their future hopes and dreams for their expanding family,” CBS said.
The interview will be the first sit-down for couple, who are expecting their child, since their engagement interview back in November 2017.
Currently, Prince Harry is working on a series of documentaries with Winfrey, a legendary daytime host and businesswoman, for Apple TV+.
The couple also has major production deals with Netflix (US$130 million) and Spotify (US$54.5 million) which will see them creating exclusive content for the streaming platforms.
