He says he did not have sex with that woman and has no knowledge of “hush” payments to keep her quiet.

She says they did have sex and that it was not memorable. In fact, she went on to say his manhood looks like a “toadstool”.

He later said he would never have sex with such a “horseface” woman.

Does a he said, she said, torrid sex tale warrant a federal indictment from a grand jury in Manhattan?

Ex-President Donald Trump is expected to be indicted soon, making him the first former President to be charged with a criminal offence.

Trump is calling on his supporters to make a stand which could lead to scenes last witnessed on that infamous January 6 in 2021 – the day when protestors stormed the Capitol Building.

This case has no legs and it will be a stretch to convict Trump on this. What it will do is galvanise his support and that spells bad news for Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley and President Joe Biden.

Every opportunity he gets, Trump will make it be known that this was a “hit job” to take him out of a race where he is the clear favourite.

He will elicit plenty of sympathy and many Americans will see it as an attempt to knock him out of the race.

“We won twice and now we have to win a third time. They know that we can defeat them. They know that we will defeat them. But they are not after me-they are coming after you. I’m just standing in their way, and I always will stand in their way,” Trump has said.

Stormy Daniels is a 44-year-old porn star who is promoting her new movie. Former Trump attorney Michael Cohen has already been discredited and has served jail time. They are hardly the most credible of persons, it will be made to appear.

Most Americans want to see a fair fight at the next presidential election in 2024. To disable Trump this way will not sit well with many and may even play into Trump’s victim narrative.

Everybody wants to see Mayweather vs Pacquiao. Nobody wants to see some YouTube guy against some no-name bum.

“There are many reasons not to support Donald Trump. There are many reasons why Donald Trump should not be President again in the United States. But you should not allow the court system to be perceived as basically a political pawn as you will.”

Joe Manchin, Democrat senator for West Virginia

It’s all about the rematch here and Biden must be prepared for it. He can’t be seen to win on a technicality.

Every fighter wants to win fair and square and go up against the best. That should be Biden’s mindset, so too DeSantis and Haley. Trump is exhibiting no fear and they should too.

Democrat Senator for West Virginia Joe Manchin said the indictment will only embolden Trump who in a recent poll is 28 points ahead of DeSantis. A national Washington Post/ABC News poll shows Trump leading Biden by 3 points among registered voters.

“There are many reasons not to support Donald Trump. There are many reasons why Donald Trump should not be President again in the United States. But you should not allow the court system to be perceived as basically a political pawn as you will,” Manchin has said.

“I think it would basically have the reverse effect as some people would think-not for the good.”

This indictment drama will be spun to be politically motivated and an act of revenge. It will serve to hurt Trump’s opponents more than help them.

Alvin Bragg of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, needs to make a good case and not a half-baked one. If Trump is to fry, the Republicans will go after the Biden family and they will be relentless in tearing at the under belly that is Hunter Biden.

The case involves US$130,000 paid to Stormy Daniels by former Trump fixer, Cohen, to keep quiet about the affair. Cohen said he made the payments at Trump’s direction. Trump said Cohen was acting on his own and he has no knowledge of hush payments. This can be viewed as a minor misdemeanour. One gets the feeling, ‘is all this worth it?’

A LONG WAIT AHEAD

On the other hand, Trump’s detractors can argue that the beast has to be taken down by any means necessary and that he cannot be allowed to return to the White House. Some in the Republican Party may even agree with that.

It will be a long time between indictment and trial, perhaps after the November 2024 Presidential Election.

Trump faces two other criminal investigations, one in Georgia and one by the Federal Government surrounding his attempt to overturn the 2020 Presidential Election result.

Trump has shown cat-like abilities while walking the political tightrope.

Brace for impact on this one.
