The Pan American Sport Organisation (PASO) hosted snazzy gala awards ceremony at the Marriott Hotel in the Floridian resort enclave of Aventura, and Jaheel Hyde, Jamaica’s 400m hurdles gold medalist at the 2023 Pan-Am Games, was a special guest of the regional body.
The occasion, however, presented an opportunity for a Wolmerian reunion as JOA President, Christopher Samuda, and JOA Secretary General/CEO, Ryan Foster, maroon and gold alumni and PASO commission members, were joined by their collegiate bother, Jaheel, whose personal feat of securing for the first time gold at the senior level at an international event was acknowledged.
Hyde, a well decorated gold medalist at the junior level and the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games silver medalist in the one lap hurdles event, now looks towards the Paris 2024 Olympic Games – the greatest stage – where he will battle with other aspirants for that coveted gold medal and a distinguished place in sporting history.
