The sovereign state of Accompong, celebrating the victory of Colonel-in-waiting Richard Currie, may have a few more interested dissidents from Jamaica as the official photo portrait has women swooning on Twitter.

Currie, whose portrait garnered the wayward attention of female Twitter users, inadvertently became a symbol of (respectful) lust on Friday (February 19) and some of the reactions are justly hilarious.

Accompong, a Maroon state in St Elizabeth, went to elect a new chief on Thursday, with Currie claiming 681 votes—miles ahead of the next closest contender, Ferron Williams (with 400 votes).

According to Accompong News, Currie, a graduate of the University of Technology (UTech), hails from a long lineage of Maroon leaders dating back over 280 years.

“Currie ran an exemplary campaign with a message of restoring dignity to the sovereign people of Accompong. Currie articulated a vision of development that has been lacking over the last decade,” the outlet explained.

But Jamaican Twitter, while also sharing in the historic moment, was more than happy to objectify the chiseled leader.
