Actor Bobby J. Brown, best known for his role as Officer Bobby Brown on The Wire, has died at the age of 62 after a barn fire in Maryland. Authorities confirmed he died from smoke inhalation and thermal injuries, with the incident ruled an accident.

According to family members, the fire began when Brown went into the barn to jump start a vehicle. He later called for a fire extinguisher, but by the time help arrived the building was already engulfed in flames. His daughter said they believe he did not endure severe pain before his death.

Brown’s wife was injured while trying to rescue him and suffered serious burns. Beyond his work on The Wire, he also appeared in Law & Order: SVU and We Own This City.
