Jamaican-American and Emmy-winning actress Sheryl Lee Ralph was honoured with the 2,808th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Ralph received her star in the category of Television on Wednesday, April 16, based on her achievements in the entertainment industry. The ceremony was held at 6623 Hollywood Boulevard.

Ralph was born in Waterbury, Connecticut, as the daughter of a college professor and Jamaican fashion designer. She was also raised between Mandeville, Jamaica, and Long Island, New York.

She became a staple in the entertainment industry, with an acclaimed career spanning more than four decades.

“With her remarkable talent and contributions, Sheryl Lee Ralph is more than worthy of this prestigious recognition,” stated Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

In a social media post Ralph also expressed gratitude with an analogy for this outstanding achievement. “Once upon a time, a little girl dared to dream. She closed her eyes and imagined her name shining among the stars, and today, she opens those same eyes to see that dream become her reality. What a blessing. #hollywoodwalkoffame,” she said.

Ralph’s acting career spans a myriad of key roles in television series such as Abbott Elementary, where she portrays the role of Barbara Howard, and Nickelodeon’s hit series Instant Mom. Ralph also received five NAACP Image Award nominations for her work in over 100 episodes of UPN’s Moesha.
