Speaking at the Adam & Eve Day Spa annual Awards Ceremony yesterday (February 8), Adam Stewart, executive chairman of Sandals Resorts International (SRI), outlined to staff the importance of believing in a strong work ethic and in having a powerful mind-set as a Jamaican.
“Every decision, the way we see, the lens through which we look at everything before us, starts with mind-set. What differentiates people is their outlook on life,” said Stewart at the Day Spa located at 56 Old Hope Road in St Andrew.
He noted that, with Jamaica’s global recognition-despite it’s size and population, there is no reason for it to be labelled a third world country any longer. Jamaica, he argued, has already proven its potential through its athletes, musicians and the way people around the world recognize Jamaican’s natural “swag and cool factor” that comes from being born in this “tiny spot on the map”.
“You’re born into royalty from you’re born in this country.”

“For too long, we have accepted mediocrity in this country,” said Stewart.
“We’ve accepted a state of play whereby people don’t try and break the quintessential glass ceiling in how they operate and what they do and I refuse to accept that Jamaica needs to be labelled a third world country for any longer,” said the Chairman of SRI.
Stewart continued: “You’re born into royalty from you’re born in this country. You have to see yourselves as the custodians of being on a journey where you are executing at a level that anyone from anywhere in the world would agree that the absolute best of the best is here.”
