The American Friends of Jamaica (AFJ) have established a secondary fund for Breds Treasure Beach geared towards alleviating the damages caused by Beryl.

The AFJ and Breds Treasure Beach Foundation have raised nearly U$400 thousand. Its donors have played a crucial role in this achievement, enabling us to deliver critical aid to those in need and kickstarting the rebuilding and recovery process on Jamaica’s south coast.

AFJ says the distribution of funds to Breds Treasure Beach has already begun to enable the repair of over 100 houses, with more work still to be done.

Both AFJ president Wendy Hart and AFJ executive director Caron Chung have toured the South Coast.

“The outpouring of support and the surpassing of our fundraising goal underscore the compassion and commitment of our community. The funds raised will make a significant difference in the lives of those affected by Hurricane Beryl,” said Chung.

Hart said, “We have made significant progress and are encouraged by the recovery efforts on the South Coast, but know there is still so much to do.” The AFJ is continuing to accept funds for our individual efforts on behalf of the Treasure Beach Community.

AFJ has also joined forces with the NCB Foundation’s “Building a Better Jamaica Fund” to help mobilise resources.

The NCB’s pledge to match JMD $150 million during the month of July represented a great commitment to the restoration of Jamaican communities.

The AFJ, alongside other organizations, has been proud to lend its outreach to the fund, which allows our donors to double their contributions.
