
Aftershocks are still being felt across the Eastern Caribbean after a strong, magnitude 6.5 tremor struck off the coast of Guadeloupe on Monday (October 27).
Preliminary data from the United States Geological Survey (USGS) registered the magnitude 6.5 quake around 8:38 am local time, some 162 kilometres east of Beauséjour, Guadeloupe.
The quake had a focal depth of 10 kilometres and was felt as far north as Antigua and Barbuda and as far south as St Lucia.
Since the initial strong temblor, at least three aftershocks have rattled the Lesser Antilles, most recently a 6.0 magnitude quake around 10:12 am.
