Air traffic controllers who staged a sick-out on Saturday (June 17) are now back on the job following an emergency conciliation meeting between the Ministry of Labour, the Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority and the Jamaica Air Traffic Controllers Association.

In a statement on Saturday, the Labour Ministry said: ” The Ministry has confirmed that the Air Traffic Controllers will resume normalcy no later than 7:00 p.m. this evening and that the parties will return to local level discussions in respect to the compensation review.”

The Labour Ministry said the parties have agreed to return to the Ministry on Friday (June 23) if there is no progress at the local level.

Reports are that several air traffic controllers called in sick for the 11 p.m. shift Friday night.

Air traffic controllers have been taking industrial action express their discontent with the government’s compensation review.
