Airbnb is offering free emergency housing to Los Angeles County residents affected by the raging wildfires.

The platform has partnered with 211 LA County to provide shelter for those displaced or forced to evacuate due to the fires.

“Specifically focused on residents who have either lost their home or been forced to evacuate in the Altadena, Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Pasadena, Santa Monica and Sylmar areas,” Airbnb wrote in a statement on Wednesday, January 8.

In a public appeal, comedian Kevin Hart shared the initiative, urging those in need to dial 2-1-1 for assistance. He also encouraged individuals who can offer support by opening their homes to visit Airbnb.org for information on how to sign up as hosts.

Hart highlighted that 100 per cent of donations made through Airbnb.org would be directed towards providing emergency housing.

The wildfires have caused significant displacement, prompting widespread efforts to support affected communities.
