Akeal Hosein included in Windies squad for must-win fourth T20 against South Africa

Left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein has been named in a 13-man West Indies squad for what for the home side, is a must-win fourth match in the CG Insurance T20 series against South Africa today at the Grenada National Stadium. Meanwhile, Jason Holder is being rested.

South Africa leads the series 2-1 after the two-time World Champions won the series opener by eight wickets on Saturday only to lose the second match by 16 runs on Sunday and the third by one run on Tuesday.

“Kevin Sinclair makes way for Akeal Hosein in keeping with the Selection Panel’s quest to determine our best squad and best XI. The objective remains to win this game and the series,” said CWI Chief Selector Roger Harper.

“Jason Holder is out of the squad on planned rest with a view to managing his workload, while Shimron Hetmyer, who was a late replacement for Chris Gayle in the last game, remains in the squad.”

This CG Insurance Series forms part of the West Indies’ World Cup preparation, with a total of 15 T-20Is to be played across three months in the build-up to the ICC T20 World Cup to be played from October 17 to November 14 in the United Arab Emirates and Oman.

The full squad comprises Kieron Pollard (Captain), Nicholas Pooran (Vice Captain), Fabian Allen, Dwayne Bravo, Fidel Edwards, Andre Fletcher, Chris Gayle, Shimron Hetmyer, Akeal Hosein, Evin Lewis, Obed McCoy, Andre Russell and Lendl Simmons.

The travelling reserves include Sheldon Cottrell, Jason Holder, Kevin Sinclair, Oshane Thomas, and Hayden Walsh Jr.
