Conservative commentator Candace Owens has carved out a good career and enjoys a reputation as being insightful and articulate.

She is good at her profession but must guard against being led down rabbit holes that can undo all that she has accomplished.

Owens is now claiming that Brigette Macron, the wife of French President Emmanuel Macron, changed her gender and is in fact a man.

She is adamant here and is willing to stake her reputation and career on this.

Why?

It’s hard to imagine her esteemed colleague, fellow Daily Wire alum, Ben Shapiro, going down this road or for that matter the talented journalist Palki Sharma.

Candace Owens continues to be impressive on a number of current affairs issues. She got it right on Black Lives Matter and exposed its shadiness.

She took on Alec Baldwin and in doing so was unkind and ungracious. That incident with the gun on the set of the movie ‘Rust‘ is something you would not want to wish on anybody and Baldwin’s daughter rightly called out Owens on it.

Perhaps emboldened and revelling in her growing popularity, she is going after certain personalities, more particularly liberal ones and if she is not careful will “come a cropper “as her English husband might say.

In the Brigette Macron case, where is the evidence?

If Mrs Macron does decide to put this matter to rest and provide irrefutable evidence, rather like how Barack Obama did with his birth certificate, Owens could be facing a ruinous lawsuit.

Her credibility will be shot and she will be crucified for all to see.

Owens needs to emulate Palki Sharma – real journalism not shock journalism.

Sure, Candace Owens puts a lot of stock in clicks and her stories going viral but that should not be the only thing she’s about not be the only thing she is about.

Can she back up her claims? Does she have facts that verify that seventy-year-old Brigitte Macron was born a man and transitioned into a woman at the age of thirty?

This is what Candace Owens had to say: “After looking into this, I would stake my entire professional reputation on the fact that Brigitte Macron is in fact a man. Any journalist or publication that is trying to dismiss this plausibility is immediately identifiable as establishment.

“I have never seen anything like this in my life. The implications here are terrifying. I do not intend to let up on this story and I am calling on other journalists to look into this explosive story and report accordingly.”

Now, as a journalist making a claim of this magnitude, Candace Owens cannot afford to get this even slightly wrong. There is the likelihood that not only will she have to carry her cross but will have to nail herself to it, if she is wrong.

Also an author, Candace Owens is challenging Brigitte Macron to show photos of herself before she was thirty.

I went to university in my late teens, and I don’t have photos of that time. One of my friends from “uni” days will show me a photo of that time and I think to myself, was I ever that young?

There are probably photos of Mrs. Macron as a young woman but she has probably not paid them attention-life goes on.

Why doesn’t she wheel out her brother and why doesn’t she take a blood test to prove she is a woman?

Why should she? She is the wife of the President and shouldn’t have to look to disprove journalists fanciful claims.

But if you go too far, you should feel Brigitte Macron’s wrath.

Candace Owens must ensure that she doesn’t go too far, that she doesn’t get led by the nose by the far right.

If she burns for this, they will not be the ones extinguishing the flames. Her career will be in tatters and there will be little sympathy. QAnon will not ride to her rescue.

Brigitte Macron has already sued two women who made the same transgender claim, for violation of privacy and fundamental personal rights.

A mother of two children, one would have thought that Owens would have some kind of empathy, could envisage the pain Macron’s children must be going through with this spurious and hurtful assertion.

If someone took a pop at her husband and children, you can be sure the lioness in Owens would come out .She chose to go for Macron’s jugular with evident ferocity.

Owen’s aristocratic English husband has always been one of her most ardent supporters and understandably so.

One can expect no less from President Emmanuel Macron.

What Owens is saying is that his wife duped him and has done so for years. All this is akin to claims that Elvis is alive and well and living in New York. I’m sure Priscilla Presley doesn’t believe that.

Emmanuel Macron’s response to all this was tempered, the heartfelt words of a loving husband. “ The worst thing is the false information and fabricated scenarios. People eventually believe them and disturb you even in your intimacy.”

Owens remains unrepentant. She is tenaciously sticking to the story that the elegant Brigitte Macron, born to a well-to-do confectionary family is a “trans” and that this is yet another tale from the dark side of the liberal left.

Earlier this year, Brigitte Macron’s daughter Tiphaine Auziere, a lawyer and author ruefully said: “I worry about society when I hear that rumours of my mother being a man are spreading on social media.

“The audacity of what’s being claimed and the weight given to those statements. Anyone can say anything about anyone, and it takes a long time to backtrack.”

Candace Owens should heed Tiphaine’s words.

She needs to listen to the second track on Bob Marley’s classic album ‘Exodus‘: “They have so much things to say.”

It could help make her a better journalist, even a better human being.
