The All-Manning XI defeated the All-daCosta XI 4-2 at the Ashenhiem Stadium and swung the dominance of schoolboy football in favour of the urban footballers.
With Glenmuir of Clarendon winning the all-island knockout and Kingston College of the corporate area taking the Olivier Shield (winner of the Manning Cup and daCosta Cup champions), there were basically Champions Cup.
The Manning Cup Scholastic further enhanced the urban claim, defeating the daCosta Cup Scholastic 5-4 on penalties after battling to a 1-1 draw in normal time.
Djaz Less of Campion College scored for the manning Cup Scholastic in the 11th minute while Shemmar Stewart relied for daCosta Cup Scholastic in minute 22.
In essence, urban teams won three compared to one for the rural teams at the senior level.
On Tuesday, the Under-14s (KC vs Glenmuir) and Under-16s (STATHS vs Munro) will do battle for all-island supremacy.
But in the feature encounter between the galaxy of stars on display in front of several scouts, the All-Manning Team were relentless and ran out easy winners.
Ryan-Oneil Francis of Tivoli Gardens High opened the scoring in the 39th minute before St Catherine High’s Dwight Gentles rammed home from close range two minutes later in the 41st minute, doubling All Manning’s advantage.
But substitute Stevaughn Spence of Frome Technical reduced the deficit for All-daCosta in minute 57.
Just as they got back into the game, All-Manning turned up another notch and substitute Nashordo Gibbs of Jamaica College restored the two-goal advantage chipping the goalkeeper in the 73rd minute.
All-Manning captain, Dyllan John of Jamaica College put the game out of All-daCosta’s reach firing home in the 79th minute making it 4-1.
John then took off his jersey with his undershirt bearing a message of ‘Phoenix reject’, which could be interpreted at Phoenix owner Craig Butler, who weeks ago apparently took a dig at him.
Glenmuir High’s Orane Watson, who was substituted but returned later, headed home with the last play of the game in the 90+5 minutes.
