All licence renewals for public passenger and commercial vehicles will now be done online through the new Transport Authority Advance Integrated Management System (TAAIMS) come February 1, the entity is advising the motoring public.

This announcement was made by Ralston Smith, managing director of the Transport Authority, at a recent route taxi association meeting.

He said the TAAIMS is geared towards making the licensing application and renewals process more efficient providing a faster turnaround time, approval and delivery of road licenses. It is a transition from the TA’s old Licensing Management Information System (LMIS).

“I am very optimistic of the process and every member of the Transport Authority staff is engaged in behind-the-scenes activity to make the licensing season a success,” Smith said.

The TA director further noted that this new approach also offers stakeholders a sense of importance and autonomy.

“Public passenger vehicle licensees not part of a taxi association can be facilitated entirely online, once all payments are made with a visa debit or credit card,” he explained.

This online system is designed in an integrated manner with the tax office, insurance companies and the police.

It also affords a seamless process once the applicant’s documents are current then the application can be completed. The applicant will only need to contact the TA to collect their mother vehicle sticker.

The 2024/2025 PPV motor vehicle licensing period commenced with pre-cursory inspection on January 2.

Applications for all other PPV and commercial carrier licensing commences on February 1, 2024.

The TA is urging its licensees to renew early to avoid prosecution come April 1.
