Natural Waters of Viti Limited has initiated a voluntary recall of 1.9 million bottles of its popular Fiji Natural Artesian Water due to the discovery of manganese and bacteria.

Fiji’s subsequent posts on X.com reveal that the recall only applies to specific lots of water sold exclusively on Amazon between February 1 and March 3.

“Fiji Water remains safe to buy and consume,” the company wrote on X.com “This is a quality issue only affecting the specific lots sold on Amazon.com.”

The recalled products in 24-packs of 500-millilitre bottles with production dates of November 11, 12, 13, 24, and 25, 2023, with case UPC 632565000043, UPC 632565000012.

Based on the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) this is a Class 3 recall, one of three categories, with Class 1 being the most severe. A Class 1 recall includes products that could cause “serious adverse health consequences” or even death.

Following online panic of persons still unclear of whether or not their FIJI water they purchased from supermarkets or got through Amazon after the dates and UPCs specified, the company put out a statement to clarify.

“The classification announced last week relates to a matter that took place months ago and has been long resolved. It involved a limited amount of products sold only through http://Amazon.com and never posed any health or safety risk. Your product is not affected.” FIJI Water posted on X.com on May 29.
