Amazon subsidiary, Amazon Web Services (AWS), has acknowledged a major outage in its services in the US-EAST cloud region today (December 7), which has brought down other major operations like Netflix and Disney +, which depend heavily on AWS servers to operate.

In a statement, AWS said: “We are experiencing API and console issues in the US-EAST-1 Region. We have identified root cause and we are actively working towards recovery. This issue is affecting the global console landing page, which is also hosted in US-EAST-1. Customers may be able to access region-specific consoles going to https://console.aws.amazon.com/. So, to access the US-WEST-2 console, try https://us-west-2.console.aws.amazon.com/.”

In addition to Netflix and Disney +, the outage is reportedly causing major issues for Amazon’s Ring smart home systems, Alexa speakers, and Prime music and video streaming services.

The outage has resulted in Amazon subsidiary IMDb also going down, as well as games like Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds and Dead by Daylight, among others.

Other companies impacted include stock and crypto platform Public.com, and NFT site RECUR.
