Amber Group has acquired a 50 per cent equity stake in popular taxi service company OnTime Taxi, which will now be rebranded as ‘Amber OnTime’.

The Dushyant Savadia-led group disclosed that this strategic partnership aims to transform the market by integrating advanced apps with innovative artificial intelligence (AI) features, enhancing user experience and safety standards.

In a historic first in the public passenger vehicle (PPV) industry, all OnTime taxis will be equipped with physical panic buttons for passengers with armed security responses. The platform will be backed by Amber Connect’s real-time tracking with AI-enabled route and dispatch management functions.

Advanced AI dashcams will allow superior driver behaviour monitoring, promote safer driving habits, and help reduce the likelihood of accidents, thereby lowering insurance premiums for operators. This focus on safety and efficiency not only will enhance the passenger experience but also support increased financial health of taxi operators.

Savadia, Amber Group founder and CEO, expressed, “This partnership is a transformative leap for the local PPV market. By integrating our advanced tech solutions with OnTime Taxis operational prowess, we are not only enhancing safety but also demonstrating the power and potential of local businesses. I chose to make this move now because the PPV industry urgently needs support, and it’s time for Jamaican people to have access to advanced taxi technology. Our goal is to make all these innovations available to the entire PPV industry in Jamaica and level the playing field with overseas operators”.
