Amber Group to host talk on crime prevention with Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

Technology outfit Amber Group Ltd has arranged for a panel discussion on crime prevention titled “Reshaping Tomorrow: Crime Prevention Through Social Interventions”, with the founder of the Art of Living Foundation (AOLF) Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar being a key contributor.

Scheduled for December 12, 2024, at The Summit, this exchange of ideas will be open to the public and the organiser promises it to be one of the most significant dialogues on crime prevention in Jamaica’s history.

Amber Group said this panel discussion underscores its “unwavering… commitment to spearheading innovative solutions”, especially as Jamaica grapples with such significant challenges as crime and violence.

“This event will assemble Jamaica’s foremost leaders and experts alongside the esteemed Gurudev’s experience and dedication to social reform, making his participation a cornerstone of this essential conversation,” the technology company assured.

Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has impacted over 500 million lives worldwide through his transformative humanitarian efforts. Focusing on mental wellness and community empowerment through education and health initiatives, Gurudev has set a global standard for peacebuilding and social intervention, and he has been recognised with many civilian awards, citations, proclamations, and keys from numerous countries. Heis the holder of 27 honorary doctorates.

For the discussion on crime, other the panellists included are:  Senator Dr Dana Morris Dixon, minister of education, skills, youth and information; Juliet Cuthbert-Flynn, state minister in the Ministry of National Security; Senator Akba Fitz Henley, parliamentary secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister; Senator Peter Bunting, Opposition spokesman on National Security; Senator Donna Scott-Mottley, Opposition spokesperson on Justice;  Allan Bernard, deputy spokesman on social transformation and protection; Keith Duncan, group CEO of JMMB and co-chair of Project STAR; and Miguel Williams, community development manager at the Digicel Foundation. 

Ambassador Dushyant Savadia, founder of Amber Group and India’s special investment envoy for technology, will moderate the panel discussions.

This distinguished panel will engage in two dynamic and interactive discussions, delving deep into innovative and sustainable strategies to eradicate crime by tackling its social, economic, and emotional roots. By emphasising proactive interventions over punitive measures, the dialogue will explore the pivotal roles of education, community-building, and rehabilitation in fostering safer, more resilient Jamaican communities.

“Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s profound insights into peace and compassion will illuminate how social interventions can effectively address the underlying causes of crime, inspiring actionable change and lasting positive impact,” a release from the organiser said.
