Former professor at Harvard, Princeton and Yale universities, Cornel West has declared that he is running to become President of the United States in 2024.

The 70-year old intellectual will be third party candidate, carrying the flag for the People’s Party.

“I am running for truth and justice as a presidential candidate for the People’s Party to reintroduce America to the best of itself-fighting to end poverty, mass incarceration, ending wars and ecological collapse, guaranteeing housing, healthcare, education and living wages for all.

“I enter for the quest for truth. I enter for the quest of justice. And the presidency is just one vehicle we pursue that truth and justice,” he said while announcing his candidacy.

West is a darling of left-leaning news cable shows and makes regular appearances on CNN, MSNBC, and Bill Mahar’s Real Time.

Also an author, West is currently a professor of philosophy at Union Theological Seminary.

“I come from a tradition where I care about you. I care about the quality of your life. I care about whether you have access to a job with a living wage, decent housing, women having control over their bodies, healthcare for all, de-escalating the destruction of the planet,” he said in his Presidential promotional video.

West supported Senator Bernie Sanders in his campaign to become president. He is the second black candidate to enter the race for the presidency in 2024.
