A 58-year-old American tourist has died while on a snorkelling excursion in Ocho Rios, St Ann, on Saturday morning.

The man, from Port Charlotte, Florida, was a guest at Sandals Ocho Rios when the tragedy occurred. He was rushed to the hospital after a medical emergency, but did not survive.

Sandals Resorts International has not released the name of the tourist but says it is “deeply saddened” by the incident and has extended condolences to his family and friends.

Police and tourism officials are investigating.
