The graceful strides of SAINT International star Naki Depass remain a constant presence on the runway for iconic Italian designer Giorgio Armani, having strutted 16 times for his luxury European fashion house’s clothing lines.

Depass’s significant ‘sweet 16’ moment came in February during Milan Fashion Week where she was doubly booked for the Fall 2022 Ready-to-Wear presentations for Armani’s eponymous label as well as his Emporio Armani line.

“I always enjoy being part of the Armani shows, and working with the team, they are amazing people,” the SAINT trailblazer shared with Our Today, on the line from Athens, Greece where she’s on model assignment.

“From the collections to the venues to the soundtracks, everything about the Armani experience portrays complete elegance,” divulged Depass, who has been part of the glamourous Armani world for the past six years.

Make no mistake, the legendary womenswear and menswear designer, last estimated by Forbes magazine to be worth US$8.3 billion, is very much hands-on.

“Mr Armani is personally very involved in everything that takes place. He’s always backstage, at times checking hair and makeup himself and adjusting where necessary. I love seeing that it’s obvious he’s still very passionate about his work after all these wonderful years,” Depass said.

The 19-year-old Depass debuted on the Giorgio Armani Ready-to-Wear Fall 2017 runway show in February 2017. Only months prior, after being discovered by SAINT CEO Deiwght Peters at Edwin Allen High, the savvy and much-celebrated model agent fast-tracked the model ingenue’s global fashion breakthrough when he booked her as an exclusive face for the Burberry Fall 2016 runway show in London. In rapid succession that season, Depass would make high-profile catwalk appearances for Prada, Celine and Givenchy, an impressive portfolio feat for the-then newcomer.

Her long-running association has seen the now seasoned model walking for three lines of the Armani fashion group. Depass has walked for Giorgio Armani seven times, Emporio Armani six times and the haute couture Armani Privé three times in Paris.

She’s an ardent muse of all the lines.

“I love all of them, it’s the same team and the same vibe,” is her impartial reply when quizzed as to her favourite.

Six years into a jet-set life, Depass has amassed a litany of achievements from gracing the cover of Harper’s Bazaar, and multiple editorials for Vogue and ELLE, fronting international campaigns for Michael Kors, Helmut Lang and NARS Cosmetics, and walking myriad runways from New York to Paris for every major designer from Balmain to Valentino.

Graduating in November 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of the West Indies, Mona, Depass said in relation to further career certification, either abroad or locally: “I’m still figuring everything out and taking it one step at a time. I’m still growing with each new experience, and discovering more about myself.”
