Britany Anderson, 2018 World U20 100m hurdles silver medalist, has been rapidly making a name for herself as a senior athlete, clocking a lifetime best 7.82 to win the 60m hurdles at the American Track League meeting in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday (February 12).

The 21-year-old speedster, a finalist in the 100m hurdles at the Tokyo Olympics last summer, where she ran a lifetime best of 12.40 in the semi-finals, has continued where she left off with some stunning performances during the indoor season.

It began at the Millrose Games where she defeated the likes of Kendra Harrison, the outdoor world record holder, while running a personal best 7.91. She would go even faster on February 6 running 7.88, this time finishing second to compatriot Danielle Williams, who won in what was then a personal best 7.83. (Williams ran a world-leading 7.75 at the Tiger Paw Invitational on Friday night.)

WARNING TO RIVALS

Then less than a week later, on Saturday, Anderson lowered her best-ever time once again with the 7.82 clocking with makes her the second fastest Jamaican in the world this year and the fourth-fastest in the world.

Anderson delivered a warning to her rivals in the preliminary round when she cruised to a 7.98 clocking to win her heat but then unleashed her full potential in the final to win by daylight over the USA’s Alaysha Johnson (7.90PB) and Dior Hall (7.97).

The Bahamas’ Devynne Charlton was fourth in 8.03.
