Antonio Brown is fighting serious legal trouble after a chaotic celebrity boxing event earlier this year.
He has pleaded not guilty to second-degree attempted murder, denying claims that he tried to shoot someone. His attorney insists the former NFL star was acting in self-defence.
Brown hired lawyer Mark Eiglarsh ahead of his trial. Eiglarsh says he took the case because he strongly believes Brown acted to protect himself against an alleged attacker with a history of violence.
On Monday, Eiglarsh formally entered a non-guilty plea on Brown’s behalf.
The 37-year-old was extradited from the United Arab Emirates last week and is now back in the US, currently in New Jersey, awaiting transportation to South Florida.
The incident in mid-May involved the alleged victim, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nanatambu, claiming Brown snapped and attempted to shoot him.
If found guilty, Brown could face up to 15 years behind bars.
