WNBA star Arike Ogunbowale went from championship celebrations to a mugshot after an alleged altercation at a Miami nightclub last Thursday (March 5).
The 29-year-old, fresh off leading her Unrivalled team to a victory over Phantom, was accused of punching a security guard who was escorting her from the club.
Officers reported that a large crowd was being cleared from E11EVEN when the incident occurred. Security footage reportedly captured Ogunbowale striking the guard, who fell to the ground. She was identified at the scene and taken into custody without resistance.
Earlier in the night, Ogunbowale had scored 19 points to help her team clinch the championship and was seen partying with teammates Paige Bueckers and Aziaha James. A four-time WNBA All-Star and two-time All-Star Game MVP, Ogunbowale also led the league in scoring in 2020 and won an NCAA championship with Notre Dame.
Her night of triumph took an unexpected turn, reminding fans that even stars can have unpredictable moments off the court.
