Jamaica’s Armani Reid is the newest Honda master technician for the ATL Automotive Group as of February 28,  having been certified by the American Honda Motor Company Inc.

As a master technician, Reid is qualified to diagnose and repair complex issues on Honda vehicles, including engine, transmission, electrical, brake, air conditioning, and other systems.

Additionally, Reid is also qualified to perform suspension and alignment repairs, and will now work directly with other technicians to train them on best practices, ensuring they are up-to-date as [Honda] models and features change.

Reid’s certification represents not only the highest level of training attainable locally, but also the highest level of training attainable according to international standards.

Karen Bennett, service manager at Honda Jamaica, remarked: “We’re incredibly proud of Armani’s achievement because he’s made a tremendous effort to get to where he is today. He’s grown significantly in the last two years and is a great asset to the ATL Automotive Group. His diligence and resilience have unquestionably made him a Honda Master Technician, and I’m confident that the Honda team will continue to benefit from his wealth of knowledge, as will our customers from his deep, broad expertise and first-rate service. We’re confident that this outstanding achievement will open up more opportunities for Armani, and wish him nothing but the best in this new chapter of his journey with Honda Jamaica, and the wider ATL Automotive Group.”

Additionally, Courtney Hedge, a trainer at Honda Jamaica, noted that “Honda’s Master Technician Certification represents the highest level of training achievement, so Armani now being a master technician is a testament to his refined expertise; dedication, drive, as well as Honda Jamaica’s and the ATL Automotive Group’s commitment to upskilling their staff and promoting from within. No doubt that Armani will continue to be a strong asset to Honda Jamaica.”

To achieve Honda master technician status, technicians must complete 249 online self-studies, as well as 79 in-person classroom modules.

Master technicians are also required to continue their education and training by completing additional modules upon the release of a new Honda model or technology feature. This certification process can take approximately three years to complete, depending on the individual.
