Arnett Gardens turned on the performance of the round by thumping Molynes United 3-0 while powerhouses Cavalier and Mount Pleasant battled to a 2-2 draw in the Wray and Nephew Jamaican Premier League in a double-header at Sabina Park over the holiday weekend.

Warner Brown grabbed a brace for Arnett Gardens in the 9th and 47th minutes as the outstanding Kimani Arbouine got on the score sheet once again, netting in the 22nd minute and providing the “Junglists” with an emphatic victory.

The Xavier Gilbert-coached Arnett Gardens moved up two places to sixth position on eight points from their five games.

Molynes United’s dismal start to the season continued as they suffered their fourth defeat from five games to be second from bottom in 13th spot with three points.

In the clash of the heavyweights involving the last two premier league champions, Mount Pleasant rallied from two goals down with two late goals to earn a 2-2 draw with Cavalier.

Christopher Ainsworth gave Cavalier an 11th-minute lead before Jalmaro Calvin doubled the advantage in minute 34. Kimoni Bailey started the fightback, scoring in minute 83, before Tevin Shaw broke Cavalier’s heart with a header in the 90+3.

It will be considered two points dropped by Cavalier and they slipped two spots to fourth on 11 points from five games while Mount Pleasant are just behind in fifth on eight points but from just four games.

Tivoli Gardens kick-started their season with a 1-0 win over Racing United courtesy of a Horatio Morgan strike in the 80th minute. It was Tivoli Gardens first win of the season from four games and they moved to four points in 11th spot, just ahead of Racing United on goal difference.

At Effortville Community Centre, home team Humble Lion and Montego Bay United played to a 0-0 draw on a sloppy field not conducive to football.

The visiting Montego Bay United inched to 13 points from six games and hold a slender lead atop the JPL while Humble Lion are 10th on five points.

At the Ferdi Neita Park, Portmore United edged Chapleton Maroons 2-1 on the back of a double by Junior Grizzle in the 45+2 and 50th minutes. Neshawn Bennett replied for Chapelton in the 70th minute.

Portmore United gained a spot to be in second on 12 points while Chapelton Maroons slipped two places to ninth on six points.

At the Wembley Centre of Excellence, home team Vere United whipped Dunbeholden FC 3-0 and jumped three places to seventh on seven points.

Alex Gayle opened the scoring in the 20th minute before Romarion Thomas took charge with two late goals in the 87th and 90+3 minutes.

Dunbenholden’s poor start continued and they remained winless from four games and are rooted to the bottom of the 14-team league pointless.

On Monday, Waterhouse FC beat Harbour View 1-0 at Drewsland in the clash of the former champions, moving into third spot on 12 points. In-form Atapharoy Bygrave found the clincher in minute 53.

Harbour View, suffering their third defeat of the season, slipped two places to eight on seven points.
