World No 1 Aryna Sabalenka continued her winning ways at the Cincinnati Open, cruising past Spain’s Jessica Bouzas Maneiro 6-1, 7-5 to book her spot in the quarter finals.
The win marks Sabalenka’s 50th victory on the WTA Tour this season, the most of any player, putting her eight ahead of closest rival Iga Swiatek.
Fresh off a convincing win over British No. 1 Emma Raducanu in the previous round, the Belarusian showed no signs of slowing down. She needed just over an hour to dispatch Bouzas Maneiro, breezing through the first set before closing out a tighter second.
Up next, Sabalenka faces a blockbuster quarter-final clash with ninth seed Elena Rybakina. The 2022 Wimbledon champion from Kazakhstan battled back from a set down to defeat Australian Open winner Madison Keys 6-7 (3-7), 6-4, 6-2. Sabalenka will be aiming to keep her title defence on track against one of her fiercest rivals on tour.
