American singer and songwriter Ashanti and frequent collaborator and rapper Ja Rule, left the crowd breathless after their performance last night (November 26) at the Mega YUSH at Sabina Park in Kingston.

Fans filled the venue as they enjoyed popular dancehall songs from the 1990s to early 2000s until the former Murder Inc stars pushed the crowd into overdrive with classic hits including Mesmerize and Always on Time.

The crowd was also treated to music from Richie Feelings and Coppershot.

“MegaYush was nothing short of worth it,” said Nisa, who attended the event.

“It was breath-taking when Ashanti graced the stage, rocking the Jamaican flag colours. That was really one of the best acts of ‘patriotism’ that I saw any international artiste do. She blended in perfectly,” she continued.

Ja Rule shared that it was his first time back on the island in 10 years and expressed his joy at being here.

Ashanti, who has spoken about her love for Jamaica and its music, paid homage to the culture with a cover of Dawn Penn’s No No No, and wore Jamaican colours – black, gold and green one piece outfit, fishnet stockings, and thigh-high boots.

“My expectations for Yush were never average; they always come big, bad and better every time,” said Candice.

“It was a great set up and productio. Nt to mention the iconic performances by Ja Rule and Ashanti. Everybody came through and it was smooth sailing, all when the mic stop work for couple seconds, Ja Rule played it off so smooth[ly] with CPR,” she continued.
