Prominent attorney Maurice Smith will be feted by the Rotary Club of Mandeville as its newest president on July 2.
Smith will be installed as one of the youngest presidents in the club’s 60-year history during a dinner slated for the Golf View Hotel in the parish.
As the incoming president, Smith is set to unveil a series of transformative initiatives designed to enhance the Rotary Club of Mandeville’s dedication to serving the local community and beyond.
A key announcement of the evening will be the announcement of the club’s plan to utilise Rotary International’s Foundation Trust for substantial financial support to boost the capacity of the Mandeville Regional Hospital.

In addition to the hospital project, Smith is anticipated to introduce a comprehensive Peace and Conflict Prevention and Resolution programme.
Funded through partnerships with both local and international Rotary partners, the ambitious programme aims to promote peace, harmony, and positive social change within the community.
Commenting on his upcoming presidency, Smith remarked, “As I take on the role of president of the Rotary Club of Mandeville, I am deeply committed to continuing the hard work and dedication that have been the hallmarks of our organisation. Through our initiatives, such as expanding support for the Mandeville Regional Hospital and launching our Peace and Conflict Prevention and Resolution programme, we aim to embody the Rotary tenets of service, fellowship, and philanthropy. Our goal is to continue building on the legacy of service and to make a tangible impact on the health and well-being of our community members. Together, we will strive to make a meaningful difference, guided by the spirit of ‘Service Above Self.'”
