Audrey Hinchcliffe, founder and chair of sanitary company Manpower & Maintenance Services Limited, celebrated her 85th birthday at a party at the Terra Nova Hotel attended by family, friends business associates and colleagues.
Audrey Hinchcliffe has established herself as one of Jamaica’s most mercurial entrepreneurs and her story is one to note for those looking to begin their business and go out on their own.
Below is her address after many lined up to wish her the very best .
“This evening, I am overwhelmed by the support and outpouring of love that I have experienced here. Thank you all for coming to celebrate this milestone with me.

A special thanks to Manpower & Maintenance Services Limited Group for taking the opportunity to make my birthday such a special occasion.
An 85th birthday is indeed a milestone. I am still catching my breath because time seems to have galloped by so quickly! But in the next breath I am minded to look around me… to see all that I have done and accomplished… and to also reflect on all that I believe I have yet to do..and to pray for strength and clarity of mind and vision to continue to give 100 per cent to making Jamaica and the world a better place.
It has been a long journey from Lorimers, Trelawny to this evening at the Terra Nova Hotel. You have heard at least a part of my resume from some of the speakers, so I will not bore you by recounting what I have done. As we are usually inclined to do, however, I am minded to reflect on all the challenges along the way. But your presence here underscores the fact that those challenges have led me here and without them honing my character and making me who I am today, where would I be?
Along the way, some of you motivated and encouraged me when I needed motivation and encouragement. Others provided opportunities when I needed it… and some of you are still doing so. I think especially of my clients ( Tony Thwaites Wing etc. Still others held my hand and walked with me through many valleys.
There are not enough words to say thanks.

My journey over the last 40 years or so has been particularly significant because it was during that period that I returned to Jamaica and started Caribbean Health Management Consultants and later Manpower & Maintenance Services Limited Group.
This May, Manpower will celebrate it’s 35th anniversary and I thank all those—the staff , both past and present, our clients, associates and well-wishers—who have played a part in helping us to grow to this point. The founding and development of Manpower has taken me and the team to unimaginable places. As I have always said, however, “ God’s hand is at work in our lives.”
In this regard, I take this opportunity to thank the members of my family who supported me in this most ambitious venture. You did not dismiss my vision when I shared it with you but embraced it and trusted that together we could turn it into reality. Thank you for contributing in such a significant way to my life.
In 2021 at the height of the coronavirus pandemic, I wrote a little book called “Chapters of Your Life… Wise Words For Women On A Life-Changing Journey’.
That book, that just happens to be one of those that can be acquired here tonight, was intended to speak to women but also to me. It is a reminder for us to assess where we find ourselves as we navigate life’s journey and to make the necessary changes, even before we approach the milestones.
This milestone presents another opportunity for me to assess, pivot, make changes and continue in the pursuit of those passions and potential that define who I am – the person God designed me to be.
There are many who have contributed to this evening’s success and at this time I must thank those who played a key role in the planning and execution of this celebratory event.:
– MMS Ltd. Group
– The hotel/Arlene Wynter and her team

– Other service providers
– All those who travelled from overseas e.g. Helmut Haukes, family members etc.
– All those who spoke on my behalf
– Planning committee etc.
-The emcee
In reflecting this evening, I am reminded that amid all the glitter and even sometimes glamour of life, what truly matters is the sincere and lasting connections and relationships one has formed with family, friends and associates over the years.

Thank you all for being there with and for me.
Thank you everyone for coming and celebrating this unforgettable evening with me. I feel invigorated and ready to embrace the rest of my life.
Cheers!”
