August Town resident, Tavarie Spencer selected for Jamaica’s Special Olympics Football team

At first glance, you probably would not be able to tell that Tavarie Spencer is hearing impaired.

Hailing from the August Town community, Spencer, considered to be diligent and talented has been selected to represent Jamaica on their Special Olympics Football team for the first time in Germany.

Despite facing impairments, his unwavering determination and love for football have propelled him to this momentous opportunity.

Spencer, who works as a Warehouse Attendant at Select Grocers in Manor Park for two years is said to have displayed his commitment to excellence and shines through in every task he undertakes.

Though he does well at work, on the football field is where his true passion lies.

Spencer’s inspiration to participate in the Special Olympics was born simply through his love of the sport. With a burning desire to showcase his abilities, he embarked on a challenging journey that demanded immense effort and perseverance. With an attitude of unwavering commitment and hard work he has been chosen as a representative of Jamaica on the global stage.
