As destination Jamaica continues to sizzle in terms of tourist arrivals, news has come that American ultra-low-cost airline Avelo Airlines has added a new flight to the island.

Later this week, the Houston Texas-based airline will launch its non-stop flights between Raleigh-Durham and Montego Bay. The low-cost carrier is adding twice-weekly service from North Carolina to Montego Bay, a route that will operate for the high season.

The route is operating on Wednesdays and Sundays. The flight takes about three hours. It is the latest in a continued Caribbean expansion for Avelo, which has been adding new flights to the region from all over the US, including typically under-served cities like Raleigh and both Hartford and New Haven, Connecticut.

Visitors can book fares on the first flights this coming week for about $$318.26, according to Avelo’s website. Note that this is the basic fare with extra charges depending on the seats chosen and how much baggage one is carrying.
