Avelo Airlines has launched two new Caribbean routes in Montego Bay, Jamaica and Cancun, Mexico.

Avelo, which was already flying between Connecticut and Puerto Rico has now kicked off its first international service with new routes from Hartford to both Mobay and Cancun.

The new Hartford-Montego Bay service will operate once a week on Saturdays with the Cancun flights operating twice per week with nonstop flights on Wednesday and Saturday.

Both routes will be operated on Boeing 737 aircraft. For the Montego Bay round trip, the price is US$281.5 economy class while the trip to Cancun is the same. In the post-pandemic period, Montego Bay and Cancun were two of the most popular destinations in the Caribbean, both seeing a strong tourism renaissance in the last three years.

And now Cancun and Montego Bay have another connection from an increasingly important United States source market: Connecticut, which has quietly been seeing a boost in airlift from several carriers, including low-cost airline Avelo.

In Montego Bay, the airline reports that one clear best place to stay; the legendary Half Moon, including its new, 57-room Eclipse at Half Moon luxury enclave. Rooms start from US$550.
