Bail adjusted for fraud accused PNP Councillor Patrick Roberts

Patrick Roberts, the fraud accused People’s National Party (PNP) Councillor for the Molynes division, was granted permission to leave the country for business matters.

After a series of questions posed by police investigators, Roberts was charged with forgery, uttering forged documents and conspiracy to defraud in 2021.

When he appeared in the Supreme Court today (April 28) where his lawyer, Sayeed Bernard, told the court that his client has to travel to the United States and the United Kingdom for official business representing the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation.

Bail bond increased

Bernard then requested made an application for the variation of bail on behalf of his client and cited that Roberts would not be a flight risk because he had businesses and family to return to in Jamaica.

The application was granted and Roberts was given permission to leave the island.

Additionally, Roberts bail bond was increased from $300,00 to $600,000.

The fraud accused PNP Councillor was released on $300,000 station bail in 2021, when he appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.
