The Government of Barbados is giving away hotel rebates ranging from US$100 to US$350 per night to visitors, who stayed in approved accommodations.

The applicable period is between last December 24 and January 31 to visitors, whose second PCR coronavirus (COVID-19) test took longer than three days to be processed.

The move is aimed at appeasing visitors, who were put off by the long wait for their PCR COVID-19 test results and encouraging them to return to the island.

Last Monday, the Barbados Tourism Investment Inc (BTMI) reached out to affected visitors, inviting them to apply via a rebate application form published on its website.

Based on the rebate system, visitors who stayed at luxury hotels during the specified period are entitled to a rebate of US$350 per night while US$250 per night will be paid to those visitors, who vacationed in ‘A-Class’ hotels. A rebate of US$150 per night is entitled to those visitors who stayed in ‘B-Class’ hotels and US$100 per night to those staying in other approved accommodation, excluding villas.

The BTMI letter said Government was making the offer as “a gesture of good faith”, but advised that only one applicant rebate per hotel room would be accommodated.
